‘Slowly’ restaurant brings Mediterranean-Baja fusion to San Diego

August 23, 2024 – By Rhea Caoile

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A new restaurant serving Mediterranean and Baja-inspired fare recently opened its doors in Pacific Beach.

Slowly Restaurant and Lounge by Landini’s Restaurant Group officially opened last Thursday at 1520 Garnet Ave., the former site of Salsa & Smoke/Iron Pig Alehouse.

The new culinary concept was created by Leo and Christine Landini, the husband-and-wife team behind other Italian establishments around San Diego, namely Landini’s Pizzeria, Scuderie Italia and Ristorante Illando.

Slowly’s menu takes inspiration from Landini’s home country of Italy, as well as the rich culinary heritage of the restaurant’s executive chef, Yadira Cuevas, who hails from Michoacán, Mexico.

Menu highlights include tuna crudo, featuring sushi-grade tuna, poke sauce, chili oil and sesame seeds, beef skewers with an apple whiskey glaze and a carrot salad drizzled with poppy seed-dill dressing.

Slow nights start here.

Save your seat — we’ll take care of the rest.
